Sell More
It is apparent to me after being in marketing for 20+ years and being an independent rep for manufacturers across the nation for less than ten that retailers are set in their ways. Many times the smaller retailer, whom I primarily call upon, is fairly inflexible. Let me present my argument. Consider the premise that the majority of products are keystoned* at retail. This means that for all practical matters the majority of that less some shipping is pure profit. What would happen if a customer came in and saw this wonderful box of Xela Aromasticks for sale? (for example) They didn't want to pay the full price for the bottle and they said, I'll give you $10 less for that bottle. Now, that might be a hard pill to swallow since the retailer has to purchase a certain quantity of aromasticks to make the order but if they offered to purchase a large quantity of them, it might just make sense! If this were your store, would you do it? Years ago I would not have but now, I definitely would. It would make a happy customer and move product. What more could you want? *cost is doubled

Contributor's Note
Question posed to me: So to clarify, if business cost is $8 and then can move them for $10 to the customer at 25% increase vs. $16 at 100% increase then its still a valid business idea to potentially pursue? Answer: I would not sell it one by one at $8 however if in bulk, yes!
